I’ve had the Plain ‘Ol and the Turkey burger and they are incredible. They cook meat “done, pink or red”. Order accoringly. Some of the more exotic burgers may seem over-priced but, they are exotic. (Buffalo, ostrich, etc.)
The fries are ok and come standard with Parmesan cheese. Again, order accordingly. They have lots of beers. On tap and in bottles. Some wines are available as well.
Just go and get a burger. You won’t be disappointed.

This may be one of those gotta be in the right mood kinda spots. Mostly because, well, you gotta be in the right mood. Late night Saturday night works. Veterans on Piano and muted trumpet play the Jazz standards. Nice touch. The Late night menu is well stocked and priced right. My special lady had the caesar salad. A little heavy on the dressing for my taste. i had the grilled cheese with tomatoe and Fries. The fries are great. The grilled cheese was ok considering it was around midnight. But its really all about the dark, dingy red candle steakhouse vibe. Next time I’ll actually have a drink.
Cardamom Cafe and Bakery Neighborhood: North Park 2977 Upas St (between 30th St & Dale St) San Diego, CA 92104 (619) 546-5609
This place sure did take its time opening up. My Special Lady and I cruised in on a Sunday morning hoping to avoid the usual Sunday breakfast firedrill that plagues places like The Mission, Hashhouse, et al. The 6 tables on the sidewalk were taken so we sauntered inside. There we found plenty of tables and a nice, quiet sunday morning ambiance. A quick look at the menu revealed a small but interesting selection all with very, very reasonable prices. After an early morning yoga workout i was ready to not mess around with this breakfast. My eyes went straight to the omelet section. “Breakfast served all day” is the word on the street, er, menu. I went for the herb and asiago cheese omelet with the “Black Forest Turkey”. MSL had the Croissant sandwich. With one cup of coffee the total was under $15. The eggs were nothing to write home about. Since its mostly a bakery (all baked goods are baked fresh in-house daily) I would suggest sticking with those. at least until they get a few months open under their belt.
Heres a little edited cell phone video action. Rocked some Tshirts with the help of Gospel One and The City of San Diego. Oh yeah thats a new beat too.
Las Cuatro Milpas Neighborhood: Barrio Logan 1875 Logan Ave San Diego, CA 92113 (619) 234-4460 Mon-Sat 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
Look, there’s no time for an explanation now, just Google what a milpa is. (Or ask your Mexican friends’ Nana). There will be plenty of time for Q and A while you wait in line. You will wait quietly and patiently. You will wait and you will enjoy it. The Menu is small. Just get a small bowl of chorizo and a few tacos (pork or chicken, folded or rolled) and remember who told you. Don’t forget a dozen flour tortillas for post-session later.
Making it happen since 1933, ergo the line out the door. This IS The Real Deal. Know what you want when you get to the counter. Only open until 3p. Don’t sleep.
